Supporting Israel blindly would strengthen Islam!

To support the existing policies and practices of the extremist government in Israel will not weaken the Islamists like Hamas. Such radical Israeli practices will never bring peace to Israel, but it will continue the violent status quo which already lasted for 63 years. I am afraid that many supporters of Israel are re-defining the problem from the Arab or Palestinian -Israeli conflict to Islamic-Jewish conflict. Those supporters will not only alienate the main stream public in Palestine but almost half of the public in Israel. I am not here denying the sinister goals of Hamas and the Islamists, but I am supporting the main stream Palestinians who are demanding the creation of a democratic secular state in Palestine which would coexist peacefully next to Israel.

The Palestine authority which represents the main stream Palestinians believe firmly in such objective. It is this belief that placed Mahmoud Abbas in power, because most Palestinians, including 500,000 Christians support the idea of a two democratic state solution. Latest Israeli polls show that almost half the Israeli public support the two states solution. Ironically, I believe that the Israeli extreme right is responsible for creating and strengthening Hamas, because the non-flexible position of Israel on the future Palestinian state has radicalized a lot of the Palestinian public. It is actually amazing how Mr. Abbas is still surviving as a president of the PA., despite the series of failure in his negotiations with Israel. Hamas would disappear in no time had Israel been more forthcoming on the peace process. As in his last interview in Al-Quds newspaper, he stated that had Israel been more flexible, Hamas would not exist anymore. Readers have to understand that the Palestinian people are against any theocracy in the 21st century, but it is very easy when the government fails to actuate their national objectives, to seek other options such as resistance of the cruel occupation. To support Israel blindly, right or wrong, will contribute to a long period of violence that will claim many victims on both sides.

To support Israel is to demand from it to abide by international legalities in supporting the establishment of two states, democratic and secular, which will signal the end of Hamas and others.

We all have a problem that you obviously cannot perceive. Your views have been the predominent views of all zionists and those supporting Israel. Unfortunately It did not bring peace to Israel. Th rise of Islamic resistance has been relatively only recent. There was no prudent approach to solve the problem before that. So using the Islamic threat to support Israel is nothing more than another excuse to dodge the problem. What are you suggesting to solve the problem of a Palestinian state and the 63 year old Palestinian refugee problem? What are you suggesting to support over 500,000 Christians and a larger number of Moslems who are seeking a homeland. Right now what stands in their way is Israel and Hamas. To simply ignore this problem will not solve it, as it did not before. This Ostreich approach has failed and it did not bring peace to Israel and it will never do. Prudency demands to create a home for the Palestinians to create a democratic secular state where there is no major role for religion in affecting politics and such a state would also do its best to fight off Islamic fanaticism.

Your problem is that you are mixing politics with religion. If you keep your eyes open as you claim then you should understand that there is another side of the coin. Israel had problems with the Palestinians long before the surge of Islamic resistance, long before Hamas and Jihad were created. Actually if you want to know the truth, these Islamic organizations became popular to the Palestinians because of Israel’s greed for more land and its rejection to abide by international legalities. Almost 95% of the Palestinian people, including 500,000 Christians are against fanatic Moslems and all are asking for a future Palestinian state secular and democratic. The president of the Palestine authority (PA) is vehemently opposed to Hamas because his objective is to create a democratic secular state which is opposed to all Islamic organizations. Palestinians were evicted from their homeland and are living in sub-human conditions in refugee camps and are demanding to go home in conformity with UN resolution 194. They are not allowed not because they were Moslems but because Israel’s is very greedy in expanding in the W. Bank and uprooting more Palestinians. The Islamists rode the wave of Palestinian nationalism to expand their Islamic agenda. Mr. Abbas told the western world that Hamas would not last if Israel abide by international legality and withdraw to create space for the indigenous Palestinians to establish their state. By rejecting these offers Israel is indirectly supporting the Islamic fanatics who are telling the moderates that moderation will only invite more Israeli settlements. You said (whatever is left of it, meaning Israel) actually is now occupying the entire area of Palestine and there is nothing left for the Palestinians to build their own state. Is Israel would conform to UN resolutions Hamas will disappear in a very short time. You have no right to tell the Moslem moderates and the Christians that they should keep on living in the sub-human conditions of the refugee camps in the name of fighting Islam. Separate human rights and legal rights from Islamic hegemony, because most of the Palestinians are in favor of crushing the Islamic organization, but thanks to Israel they are becoming stronger because peaceful negotiations have failed leaving violence against Israel as the only way.

Why do you assume that supporting Israel is something only the blind would do. I have my eyes wide open, and I can see clearly that Israel is on the chopping block. At first Israel only wanted peace, now it is obvious to everyone who is honest, that Israel only wants to survive....what's left of it. There will never be peace with Islam, so there can never be peace with the Arabs or the Muslims there. It is a matter of self preservation.
