Frustrations! I attempted to reply to Seif Turki, but was informed that my reply was too long. I tried to chop it in half, but got the same message. I will now post it as an original blog from me here. [I think I will give up coming to this site as it is too frustrating.]
SeifTurki,"CAN ISLAM BE REFORMED" a most controversial blog. Either you are knowledgeable of Islam and want to be controversial, or you are ignorant of Islam and are suggesting something that is considered blasphemous in Islam and warrants a fatwa. But with a screen name like yours, I assume that you could be of the Kemal School of Thought. Because my understanding is that, "ISLAM CANNOT CHANGE"
Let me put into context the following verses:
[2.105] Those who disbelieve from among the followers of the Book do not like, nor do the polytheists, that the good should be sent down to you from your Lord, and Allah chooses especially whom He pleases for His mercy, and Allah is the Lord of mighty grace.
[2.106] Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things?
It is clear that the messages are sent form Allah, your Lord, and the we means through his messenger the Prophet Muhammad, and not through any man.
Thus man cannot abrogate the word of Allah, but Muhammad could as he was the messenger of Allah.
Furthermore, All Muslims should know that "The Gates of IJTIHAD was closed in 900 AD and never again opened."
Hence, no one has the authority to change Islam except Allah or his Prophet.
